Chianti

Chianti is the area between Florence and Siena in Tuscany, famous for the red wine of the same name. If you are interested in wine, food and natural beauty the area has a lot to offer. The landscape, which includes exciting castles and charming market towns, is fascinating all year round with its changing colours in the soft hills and narrow valleys covered in cornfields, forests, olive groves and vineyards.
The Chianti DOCG wine appellation is divided into seven subregions of which Classico is the most famous. The Chianti Classico region is defined by the towns between Florence and Siena: Panzano, Castellina, Gaiole, Radda and Greve as the unofficial capital with wine shops galore and one of Italy’s great butchers Macelleria Falorni. Almost all the famous Chianti estates are located near to one of these towns. Please note that many of the wineries are open for a guided tour and tasting.
