Regionen The region of Alicante is located on the eastern coast of Spain and is part of the Costa Blanca. The city of Alicante has about 340 000 habitants and is located between the mountains and the sea and enjoys a mild climate all year round. Alicante is famous for its wonderful boulevards with palm trees and pleasant shopping streets. It is one of the most attractive towns along the Costa Blanca with its miles of sandy beaches, old plazas, parks, adventure and great weather. The city provides fun with carnival and festivals, entertainment and also a great nightlife.
With many historical buildings around the city such as the Castle of Santa Barbara, one of the biggest medieval fortresses of Spain and St Mary’s Church, Alicante offers countless sightseeing attractions. Additional to sightseeing you can enjoy the sandy beach of the city, San Juan beach, which is located around 4,5 miles from central Alicante. It is the perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming and has a good selection of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and water sports on the beach.
